CONS:
1. Safety: The external front door handles on each apartment are more akin to those in college dorms (simple push-button lever knobs). I have never seen these used on anything other than an internal door. Many garages have direct access to the building without any intervening locked door. I had maintenance workers (with approval from management but without notifying me) gain access to the balcony of my 3rd floor apartment by using a ladder
2. Parking dangers: The garage area has 2 one-way entrances that you have to make a blind turn into, but there is no designation indicating the direction for entering or exiting and there are no convex mirrors to help with visibility. Frequent illegal street parking by college students can completely block off one of the entrances, making access unpredictable. The garages themselves are also very small and difficult to maneuver into, especially if you have a larger vehicle. People, including maintenance here, frequently double park and block the exit of your garage door.
3. Poor Maintenance: Upon moving in, I found cracks in the windows and large, rotting holes in the roof of the balcony—issues that management was already aware of but had neglected to address. It took over two months of constant reminders (specifically Tanya was very disrespectful and difficult to deal with to get this addressed) before they finally made the necessary repairs.
4. Move in: the apartment was exceptionally dirty when I moved in with rotting food the cabinets, hair in the washing machine, dirt on the floor, and grime in the shower. Almost every lightbulb needed to be replaced at my own expense
5. Inconvenient Package Delivery: Packages for Circle 118 are left in the mailroom of another complex
6. Expensive Utilities: Heating is electric and the building is poorly insulated, so in the winter my electric bill was often $200
PROS:
1. Convenient Location: It's close to the hospitals and relatively quiet despite being on the edge of Case Western's campus across from where they have their stadium, and also with the train frequently passing right by
2. Case Western Security Presence
3. My unit had really good natural light
This is the only time I have ever had anything deducted from my security deposit (~ $700) for cleanliness (I left it cleaner than I found it) and for item disposal (I left my trash outside of the building in the designated garbage disposal site, and some random items i was charged for that weren’t even mine)
