Pros:
- Size: large living room, pretty view, decent sized bedroom with study, large kitchen with space to put a table for maybe 5 people, sufficient closet/storage space, power outlets
- location: within walking distance of Case Western/ UH and Cleveland Clinic. Close to University Circle, plenty to do within walking distance or a short drive: cultural attractions (art museums, Cleveland Orchestra, Botanical Garden, etc.), places to eat (I recommend Mitchell's Ice Cream), UPS store (which has... a public notary), gym, etc. The building is called Parkside Dwellings, and the "park" is a long stretch of trees across the street with some art pieces (nice for jogging); there's another stretch of trees with a stone pathway between the building and the Children's Museum. It's very pretty, especially in the fall. Bonus: seeing rabbits and fireflies!
- neighborhood: it's quiet, and most of the building residents in the building are professionals or students at Cleveland Clinic or UH.
- bus station a block away (Healthline)
- brick building and steam heat, warm when it's snowing outside
- laundry: 2 washing machines and 2 dryers, which is okay for building; you pay $1 in quarters for each m/c
- maintenance comes quickly enough for emergencies; they also installed my ACs
- gated parking
Cons:
- only Time Warner available for internet
- toilet got clogged several times this year (I don't throw anything in it); I recommend to use plunger immediately when it doesn't flush properly or slows down (I was busy, didn't do this for a day or 2 and had to call maintenance emergently as a result...they did do a good job cleaning up for me)
- you have no control over the heat, and as the weather transitions from hot to cold, it gets cold indoors before they turn on the heat for the building
- 1 small window AC (good for bedroom, but you need another for living room); most units don't have AC
- they don't cover electric - use Apples to Apples program or you'll pay too much
- small bathroom, mirror to side of sink
- no elevator
- trash disposal outside building
- no front desk, no one to sign for packages
- fridge and stove a bit small, and had to cover gaping vent above stove because flies were coming in
- I still get flies, even after taping the windows and covering the vent!
- No dishwasher or microwave
- laundry: inefficient dryer (they finally fixed it)
- parking is uncovered
- park is dark if you walk home at night
No more space.
